EMBRACING THE BOX

For this project, I created a multifunctional space that provides individuals with areas to perform, refresh and promote their work. The space is constructed from shipping containers alone, celebrating their modular, industrial and diverse qualities.
COVID-19 guidance was kept at the forefront of my mind whilst designing, which means that the building is safe to use for both performers and the public. The space plays on the word 'restriction', as it is a feeling that everyone could relate to after the events of the past couple of years. Instead of thinking negatively about how the pandemic has affected the performance industry, I used this opportunity to show a new way of enjoying both performance and installation art that has not been experienced before.
