A CERAMIC RETREAT

This project involved redesigning the Old China Clay Store building located in Porthleven, Cornwall, so that it would provide the space for a ceramic studio being opened by a hypothetical client. The Ceramic Retreat will offer a selection of courses and sessions for the public to take part in, whilst also being available for practising ceramicists to book for their own use. An apartment is located within the building in order to provide accommodation for guest ceramicists to stay in whilst they are teaching sessions and courses. I also designed a multifunctional pottery unit that allows wheelchair users to comfortably participate in the joys of clay throwing. This project was also nominated for an Interior Educator's Award in 2021, under the category 'Diversity, Equality and Inclusion'.
